Here are some questions I use with executives and founders who are having a temporary challenge with getting started on a new initiative.
This is helpful for anyone who is generally able to make progress on the things they want to do - but happens to be temporarily unable to make progress for an unknown reason.
Good luck and feel free to share your examples and experience in the comments!
Exercise: Getting into a flow state
1. What's the one thing that would make today count?
(This question helps focus on a specific, high-impact goal and sets intention.)2. What's the most important task that requires my unique skills and strengths?(This question identifies the task that will energize and engage flow state.)
3. What distractions/obstacles might get in my way, how will I overcome them?(This question anticipates challenges and develops strategies to overcome them.)
4. What's the next step I need to take to move closer to my goal?
(This question breaks down the task into simple steps and creates momentum.)5. What mindset or attitude will I adopt to stay focused and motivated?
(This question sets the mental tone for success and helps maintain motivation.)
As useful as the first bunch of questions is, I feel this is all about getting to the final question as fast as realistically possible. Collapse time and get to flow state quickly. Good post, thanks.
