Is your mind feeling full and noisy?
It is easy for thoughts, worries, and tasks to pile up in our heads.
This simple exercise will help you:
Get thoughts out of your head
Sort out what's important.
Figure out next steps for key things
Release what you don't need to hold onto
Exercise: Declutter your mind
1. DO
- Action: Write down every single thought, task, worry, or idea in your mind. Don't stop or judge, just write.
- Ask Yourself: What's taking up space in my head right now? List everything.2. DECIDE
- Action: Go through your list and put a simple mark or note next to each item:
A: Needs action now
I: Just Information/Idea for later
D: Dismiss (a worry or something not important)- Ask Yourself: For each thing I wrote down, is it something to Do, something to keep in mind (Idea/Info), or something to Dismiss?
3. DEVELOP
- Action: Look at the items you marked "A" or "I". For each one, quickly think about the very next small step you could take or a simple thought about it.
- Ask Yourself: For the "Action" and "Idea" items, what's one tiny step forward I can take today to help me start to execute
4. DISMISS
- Action: Look at the items you marked "D" or any worries. Take a deep breath and imagine letting them float away. You don't need to carry them all in your head anymore.
- Ask Yourself: What can I release right now? Take a breath and dismiss those thoughts.
