Bonus: How I started a reflection habit (Orianne)
Hi everyone - we heard that you wanted some inspiration from other community members about how they use our weekly reflection emails. š¤
We asked if anyone could share their story and many of you replied. ā©ļø
This week we hear from Orianne about how she has used the weekly reflection emails to become more effective at thinking and decision making. š§
Thanks Orianne for sharing how you use the weekly reflection emails! šš¾
Who are you? What do you spend your time and energy on?
I am a French epicurean who loves to reflect on life, business and ask why. I offer business and career coaching for small business owners and professionals with a strong focus on a broaderĀ definition of success, which includes financial results of course, but also joy, time spent doing what we love etc. I spend my personal time traveling and I amĀ currently digital nomading. I practice yoga, run and write a lot.
How do you use the weekly reflection questions? Do you have a habit or process you use every week?
I use them differently every week. I read them over coffee and think about my answer, using it as a tool to identify things I could work on in the coming weeks or as a tool to identify things toĀ be awareĀ of.Ā
IĀ usually share them with atĀ least one person I know that could benefit from that reflection (client, friend etc.). We share answers and discuss them.Ā
IĀ also sometimesĀ use them as an ice breakerĀ to trigger interesting conversations with people I meet. Much better than "where are you from?".
What has been the impact of this habit/process? Any benefits you have seen?
Increased self-awareness is the main one. It callsĀ my attention to thingsĀ I would maybe not have thought about right now and helps me redirect or adapt when needed. ItĀ has alsoĀ been a great tool to influence conversations in a moreĀ meaningful way.Ā
What advice would you share with anyone who is having trouble getting started with a weekly reflection?
Find a seamless way to do it. If getting in the habit is hard, integrateĀ it into something you do automatically and weekly. ie. your weekly ride to yoga, over morning coffee, checking it before going for a run and using the run to think about it etc.Ā You can record your answers over voice note / dictaphone.
Is there anything you would like to share out that you are working on?
